A wh-question begins with a question word: what, where, who, whose, when, why, which, how.
We form the question by changing the position of the subject and the auxiliary verb.
For example:
She is reading................................... What is she reading?
They have gone home.......................Where have they gone?
In the case of Who can ask about the subject or the object. Compare:
Asking about the object: Frank loves someone
Who does Frank love?
Asking about the subject: Someone loves Frank
Who loves Frank?
Asking about the object: Tina phoned someone
Who did Tina phone?
Asking about the subject: Someone phoned Tina
Who phoned Tina?
Asking about the object: Ken is helping someone
Who is Ken helping?
Asking about the subject: Somoone is helping Ken
Who is helping Ken?
When who aks about the subject, the verb has the same form as a statement, and we do not use do, does or did.
We can also use what, which and How many to ask about the subject.
